The Congregation of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary has approved a new executive for the Nigerian Chapter, the Rector Major (Superior General) of the Congregation, Fr. David Nicgorski ovm; has disclosed in a press statement, issued recently by the office of the Rector Major.


The statement reads in parts: “And so, today, after consulting with our confreres living in Nigeria, and after consulting, too with the Provincial (and previous Provincial) of Italy, as well as some prior Nigerian formators, the General Government is announcing to the Congregation those confreres who have graciously accepted a mandate to serve the Queen of the Holy Rosary Delegation, Nigeria.


The new Nigerian executive, headed by Rev. Paul Ubebe omv, as Delegate (Superior of the Congregation in the country); include Fr. Emmanuel Gusha omv, Vice Delegate; Fr. Tim Inok ovm, Treasurer; Fr. John Idio ovm, Councilor and Fr. Cyril Odey ovm, Councilor; is expected to direct the affairs of the Congregation in the country with effect from October this year


The international headquarters of the congregation expressed gratitude to the “Italian Province without whose support and fraternal charity such steps would not have been possible.” The office also extended its appreciation to “Fr. John Idio and his Council for navigating the young delegation through its maiden voyage under the Italian province.”


The Nigerian chapter with its Congregation House in Suleja, Niger State; has two communities in Suleja and Ibadan, Oyo State; one community each in Abuja and Benin as well as five priests working in Lagos.
