The Holy Father, Benedict XVI has today, Saturday April 17, 2010, accepted the resignation of Most Rev Simon A. Okafor from the pastoral care of the diocese of Awka upon having reached the age limit. And in view of the vacancy created by the resignation, the Pope has appointed Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor as Apostolic Administrator of the diocese of Awka, until such time as a bishop takes canonical possession there.
Bishop Ezeokafor was until his appointment the Auxiliary bishop of the same diocese.
