(MONDAY MAY 31) The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has accepted the resignation of Most Rev. Richard Burke, S.P.S., as Archbishop of Benin City, by virtue of Can. 401 § 2.
Pending the appointment of a new Archbishop, the pastoral care of the Archdiocese of Benin City has been entrusted to His Excellency Rt. Rev. Anthony Okonkwo Gbuji, Bishop Emeritus of Enugu, as Apostolic Administrator, by the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples from 31st May, 2010.
